"About two years ago, I arrived in Houston and parked outside St. Constantine's School. I was a little tired, having driven that far and needed to chat with a good friend. I called our good family friend Fr. Mark, from MO. His sister lives in Houston, so when I left Lincoln, NE, where he was serving at that time, he had asked me to call him when I'd get to the school.
As we talked, Father Mark was the first to call our "Paterikon for Kids" series "The Encyclopedia of the Saints." While at that Conference in Houston, he asked me, and everywhere else, I'm called to show our books to suggest to all looking into buying only a few of the books to get the entire series.
He said, the same way that parents back in time would never buy A, B, C, of an Encyclopedia, but not D, or E, and so on, for their kids, but they would buy the entire encyclopedia in the same way, one should not get just a few books of this series, but the whole series.
So, since January 2018, I've been calling the "Paterikon for Kids" - "The Encyclopedia of the Saints."
Don't you think it's a good term for such a spiritually uplifting series?"
"Paterikon for Kids" had its first twelve books published on December 2, 2010, Ekaterine's birthday and our beloved St. Porphyrios' day. On a side note, have I told you how happy my mom was every time she would remind me of how she would take me to St. Porphyrios to get his blessing every time she would take me to the church at the Polyclinic of Athens?

"Love, love, love the new Synaxarion series for children. It is not a usual synaxarion or collection of the lives of Saints. It provides so … much more than the traditional description of the life of a Saint - it has expanded the understanding of the history of the world and the many cultures that have embraced Christianity through colorful graphics and accurate timelines. It teaches them new skills - promoting map reading and exposing them to fun new facts they are eager to tell me. For example, they can figure out which Saints knew each other and how far they traveled and employ this information in new ways.
Several of my children took this new information and made quizzes, maps, and game boards, as well as did extra research. From a nightly bedtime story to board games, there are many ways to use this set!
Buy it for you, your church school, and your homeschool. You won't regret it!"
