Saint Chryse, known in the Slavic languages as Saint Zlata, also meaning golden, is venerated by many of the Orthodox Christians on the Balkan Peninsula. She was martyred for Christ in her village, on October 13, 1795. Her village exists to this day and is located twenty-five kilometers to the northeast of the beautiful Greek city of Edessa.
