January 2 (OC January 15) Saint Juliana of Lazarevo is a saint venerated by many Orthodox, as she constitutes a beacon of Faith in the darkness of spiritual and physical winter. She lived through truly devastating pandemics, and decimating. hunger, caused by volcanic eruptions.
She lived in the area of Murom. Murom is relatively well known amongst Russians, as it is the birthplace of Ilya Muromets, a heroic knight of folklore.
