June 11/June 24

Saint Mitrophan Cháng Yángjí was born on December 10, 1855.

His parents were Orthodox, and they raised him according to the Faith.

His teacher, Juren Long Yuan, began preparing Saint Mitrophan for the priesthood from a very young age. At the age of 25, he was ordained by Saint Nicholas of Japan.

In 1900 during the so-called “Boxer Rebellion,” he was martyred for his faith along with his parishioners, his wife, Saint Tatiana, and their sons, Saints Isaiah and John, as well as Isaiah’s wife, Saint Maria. The third son of Saints Mitrophan and Tatiana, Sergei, survived and later became an Orthodox Archpriest. Commemorated June 11.
